Purple Rocks

I am so excited to post this design! It is one of my favorites that I have done recently. I love the dimension that the layers give and the way the colors work together. On a general sense, I love this design because you can do it with any colors or types of polish and the result is still amazing.

For this design I used a small cup of water, a spray bottle (mine was filled with rubbing alcohol, but you can use any liquid) and the following polish:

Lavender: Sally Hansen “Lacey Lilac”

Magenta: Floss Gloss “LEAN”

Purple Holo: Color Club “It’s a Mystery”

And of course my current favorite quick dry top coat “Marvel Liquid Macro Top Coat" by SuperChic Lacquer.

How to:

To do this design, I used the turquoise rock technique that many other nail artist have done. I first started with a thin base layer of Sally Hansen “Lacey Lilac” followed by a quick dry top coat.

Next, using the small water cup, I dropped 2 drops of Floss Gloss “LEAN” in and allowed it to spread. Once it had spread on the top of the water, I used the spray bottle to spray the alcohol on the polish. You have to make sure that you spray right into the middle of the polish that is in the water and spray fairly close to it. When you spray close up, it allows the drops from the spray bottle to break if the polish in the spotted fashion you see on my nails.

I then dipped my nail, facing completely down (do not do this at an angle because the design with not transfer on the the nail nicely), removed any excess polish that was in the cup and removed my nail. I took a cotton round to gently pat dry the nail. I applied a layer of top coat and allowed that to dry.

I repeated this step with Color Club “It’s a Mystery” followed by a final layer of top coat.

Tell me what you think!
