Dark Galaxy

I attempted to attain the galaxy look while showing the darker side that most designs do not usually do. I really love the contrast between the glitter and the metallic. They work well together since they accent each other. The different textures bring out the opposing one. The metallic highlights the glitter within the other polish, while the jelly highlights the light shinning on the metallic polish.

Here's how I created this galaxy design.

For this design, I used a latex free makeup sponge and the following polish:

Black: Sinful Colors "Black on Black"

Blue Glitter: Essie "Starry Starry Night"

Blue Metallic: Color Club "Polar Vortex"

And of course my current favorite quick dry top coat "Marvel Liquid Macro Top Coat" by SuperChic Lacquer.

How To:

This design need the dark background to make the dark colors pop more. The glitter looks better when it has some contrast. First I started with a black background using Sinful Colors "Black on Black."

Next, I took the makeup sponge and ripped small pieces of it off for both for the colors. Ripping the makeup sponge off makes different textures that cause the foggy look on the nail. Using Essie "Starry Starry Night" first, I painted a little on the makeup sponge and dabbed the polish down the middle of the nail trying to concentrate it in the center and disperse it outwards.

Next, using a different piece of makeup sponge and Color Club "Polar Vortex", I dabbed lightly around the edges of the Essie "Starry Starry Night." Applying the new polish around the edges allows the colors to blend together making a mini gradient between the two. The blending of two polishes and the different finishes give the design a since of dimension.

Finally, I topped this design off with a layer of quick dry top coat.

Tell me what you think!
